Two costume makers LOST THEIR FINGERPRINTS working on The Lord of the Rings.
To clarify, chainmail is a type of armor made from small metal rings linked together in a mesh. For LOTR, two people had to construct hundreds of chainmail costumes out of PVC pipe.
When all was said and done, a total of 12.5 million links had been fashioned out of 7 miles of PVC pipe! As a result of all this tedious labor, the two workers ended up rubbing the fingerprints off of their thumbs and forefingers!
